I'm Fixin' to Scrap!

We southerners "fix" to do stuff. Nothing's broken, that's just how it is. We're fixin' to go to the store. We're fixin' to eat dinner. And this weekend, I'm fixin' to scrap!!! My favorite website, www.memorybookinspirations.com is having a Sizzlin' Summer CyberCrop this weekend. I've invited my friends, I've got all my pictures lined up, and best of all, my scrap room is clean! You should join us. It will be TONS of fun! So put down the plate of barbeque, round up some pictures, and let's get scrappin'!

Why am I so exited about this? I can scrap anytime I want, but I just haven't been motivated. Mostly because I can't find zoo-appropriate paper. What happened to all the leopard and zebra printed paper?

I think, too, it's less about scrapping and more about hanging out with friends. And eating.

So if you get a few minutes this weekend and want to pop in and visit us, we'll be fixin' to have a good time!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENNILEE!!!!

The Weekend is Here!

Yay Weekend! Another week has passed, as I just stand there and watch it whiz by. Days seem to drag but at the end of the week I always wonder, "where did the time go?" and "what did I do with it?"

Thankfully Meghan's still young enough that our plans don't include soccer games, bake sales, girl scout outings, and sleepovers. But I'm sure the day will come. The most exciting thing happening is a birthday party across the street. But they have a bouncy house....!!!

Next weekend is the official kickoff to Summertime, and I can't wait! Summer means vacations, family reunions, days at the pool, evenings on the patio, grilling. If it doesn't require being inside, you can guarantee we'll attempt it outside. What is the obsession with being outside, anyway? Have you noticed the bzillions of dollars we spend on creating "outdoor living spaces"? Maybe it goes back to our primal roots of living in nature, unrestricted by 2x4's and drywall and paint. Maybe it means that we're brainwashed by advertisements selling the stuff. After all, if it weren't for the advertisement, would we really need Chia Pets or The Clapper? Either way, I'm just happy that the time has come to fling open the windows and haul half my belongings outdoors.

So for now, I'm going to take my coffee and sit on my back patio and enjoy the weekend. Hope you do, too!

A Day at the Park

Tuesdays are Meghan's playdate days with two other girls from our neighborhood. Since the weather was nice today, we decided to pack a picnic lunch take them to the park. We had such good fun at the park. Swinging, sliding, throwing sand...

Yes, we learned the sand-throwing technique from another little boy who was also playing at the park whose mommy was having an in-depth conversation on her cellphone. If the amount of sand in her clothing (i.e. diaper, hair) is any indication of how much fun she had, she had a really good time. Anyway, she got bored with throwing sand quite quickly once it was determined that Mommy didn't think it was a good idea. He he he...

Come to think of it, I spend a lot of time correcting Meghan on undesirable behavior that she learns from other people. But I guess that's what parenting is all about; teaching right from wrong. It's not going to get any better once she gets in school. Then it will be less about "Don't do that" and more about why someone else is allowed to do something that she's not. I'm sure "That's NOT FAIR" is going to be a popular phrase in our house. And I'm sure I'll cringe when I hear my mother's voice coming out of my mouth when I reply, "And if Suzie jumped off a bridge, would you follow her?"

It's true what they say about parenting: You don't understand being a parent until you become one. That you get paid back for all the grief you gave your parents. I only hope that holds true for hugs and kisses, too.

Welcome to my world

Hi!
This is my first post. I can't believe I'm putting my life on the internet for everyone to see. But, I'm proud of my life, my husband, my daughter, and our accomplishments thus far. So why not share?

I'm sure you want to know a little about me. I am a SAHM (stay at home mom, or stuck at home mom, whichever best suits the day) of a two-year old daughter. She'll most likely be the subject of most of my posts. I have been married to my awesome husband for almost six years. He's like, the best thing ever. : )

My hobbies include scrapbooking, which I'm totally into, shopping for scrapbooking supplies, and being a very active member of a scrapbooking website, www.memorybookinspirations.com. You should check it out. Go ahead. Yes, now. In addition to scrapbooking, I like to create personalized cards and make altered items like paint cans and pretty little trinket boxes for my nieces. I'm also a wannabe interior designer.

I'm from a small family, just me, my mom, and my half-bro and half-sis. My DH (dear husband), on the other hand, is from a gi-normous family. He has eight other brothers and sisters, which at first was just a tad overwhelming, but I've pretty much adopted them as my own. And I think they have done the same, too.

In a nutshell, that's me. Hope you come back and visit!
